Skype Me: TwitJobSearch integrates video interviewing with Skype

With over 400 million individuals engaging with social media and over 500 million Skype users, TwitJobSearch has just introduced a product that facilitates the linking of Skype IDs to Twitter accounts and then allows them to be attached to job offers in Twitter.

Nearly 1 million unique job opportunities have been posted to Twitter in the last 30 days.  This makes Twitter the largest job board in the world.  TwitJobSearch uses semantic search technology to filter and index these job offers.  The new feature allows job seekers to quickly find a job that suits them, attach their Twitter/Skype IDs to the job and to send a tweet to the recruiter notifying them that they've applied.  The recruiter then simply clicks on the candidates Skype ID and can instantly be conducting a video interview.  A job offer can be tweeted and a video interview commenced in under a minute.  That could make TwitJobSearch the "world's fastest job search."

After adding their Skype ID to their TwitJobSearch profile, a job seeker merely clicks on the Skype logo attached to each job tweet, as seen here:
then clicks to accept:

and that's it.

"What we are seeing is the $100 billion recruitment industry moving to the cloud," said Matt Alder, CEO of MetaShift, a strategic business consultancy. "The integration of VOIP, search, and social media technology can re-engineer a business process that most HR professionals believe is broken."

TwitJobSearch CEO, Howard Lee, notes that the job search process can be very expensive and time consuming for the job seeker.  "We are always looking at how to improve the job hunt experience.  We believe that social media and technology, like video interviews, is disruptive to the recruitment industry but will absolutely improve the job candidate experience."

The 140 character limit imposed by Twitter has helped to make it popular but, more and more companies are building functionality to allow for more in-depth conversations.  "From the facilitating of video calls to establishing a 'cloud phone number', we're actively seeking ways to integrate Skype technology and using it to extend the power of social media, " says Bill Fischer, Co-Founder TwitJobSearch.  "For international recruitment efforts or even for the emergent mobile recruitment channel, we see the potential for lots of innovative uses of Skype being incorporated into new business processes."

Check out a video from the TJS test labs demonstrating the whole process from tweeting a job, to conducting the interview over Skype.

#TRUlondon

This past week the TwitJobSearch headquarters were invaded by the best and brightest recruiters from around the world. The past 2 days were a fantastic melding of ideas and cultures. Instead of writing my own recap, I thought I'd give some love to a few of the aforementioned "bright" recruiters who have already posted their thoughts on London's first Recruitment Unconference of 2010.
